Bikeraft Maine July 2026 Trip

Join us for a long weekend of biking, rafting, and enjoying the beautiful state of Maine!

Here are a few details below:

Overview of Trip

  • Thursday 7/16 - Bikeraft Workshop

    • 5-10 miles biking with 2-4 miles of rafting

    • Day Trip

  • Friday 7/17 - Sunday 7/19

    • Riding and paddling

    • Expect to be back in the afternoon on Sunday!

    • Expect 10-30 miles of biking and 5-10 miles of paddling per day depending on final route

    • Will finalize route with signed up participants

  • Food

    • Communal style preparation

    • Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner or we can do Breakfast, Dinner but participants will need to figure out lunches

    • Enter any dietary restrictions in the form below!

  • We will plan to find a campsite close to the start

  • Other lodging is available for pre and post trip (up to the participant to handle!)

Cost

  • $25 deposit due now

  • $325 ($350 total) due for the trip to Packraft Maine before leaving on the trip which includes:

    • Everything you need for packrafting

    • Communal meals

    • Camp sites

  • $75 for Bikeraft Workshop

Route details

  • Road quality and gravel is poor to rough

  • Wider tires, more comfortable set up would be ideal

  • Loop option

    • Everyone should arrive Thursday 7/16

    • 90 miles with a pushy pace

    • 4000 feet of elevation

    • Day 1 - Friday

      • 20-40 miles only biking

    • Day 2 - Saturday

      • Getting to mile 66/73 with mix of biking/paddling

    • Day 3 - Sunday

      • 26 miles

    • Option for bailout car

  • Point to point option

    • Less mileage, slower pace

    • More logistics required

      • Requires cars for shuttle

      • Hire shuttle and trailer

      • Hire someone to shuttle drivers

Transportation and lodging

  • Workshop Day, Workshop Pre Trip - Campsite at start of route

    • Alejandro/Mike have larger car camping tents to use for basecamp

      • can leave inside the cars at the start of trip

    • Bus Station in Bangor

    • NY/NJ folks will coordinate with Bikepocing

    • VT folks will coordinate with Color The Valley

Rafting equipment

  • Boat adds 12-13 lbs to normal bikepacking set up so please be sure to take that into consideration

  • Raft set up takes about an 1 hour to 1 hour and 15

  • 1 raft per person
